I totally agree - our concern should begin and end with whether our interests are addressed or not. This is not the time to argue and nitpick on what is good for the whole world in the long term - remember, there is no "long term" for us without a GC. Lets be realistic - its a done deal that EB reform if all it comes up, will come with either a generous H1-B increase or illegal alien amnesty or both of them. Its not our job to worry about excessive immigration - the anti-immigrants and their friendly congressmen are always there to raise a hue and cry and dilute any and all pro-immigrant proposals. With them at work, if we ask for a yard we will get a foot, if we ask for a foot we will end up with not even an inch.
Well, it is not a perfect world. It is not a perfect system. When CIR comes up every group will push for their interests. If u send a mail to any Senator, all u get is a standard reply about H1-B. It will be impossible to educate every ligislator. We have to do the best we can to voice our concerns and go with the tide. We cannot nitpick the sections of the CIR and tell the legislators vote only for these. We just make sure that our issues are addressed in whatever bill comes up.

I think this is wrong.
Recapture is a good option if you want to do it right. Otherwise all ROW will oppose you. How are you different than the guys who open threads against Telgus or EB3 vs EB2 or against Muslims.
What you are doing is only dividng the community. My collegues who are also IV members are upset reading that someone in IV is pursuing a one point agenda against ROW. We need to stop and think. A lot of ROW are quiet members on IV forum and they will be upset.
Country caps can only be supported if there is recapture or increase in visa numbers.

I have no problem with porting, but the priority date should be starting from when they acquired required qualifications for the job.
Example, if someone with B.S and 2 years experience had applied in EB3 in 2005 and tries to port now I think it is fair to have the ported PD not in 2005, but 2008 when the person acquired B.S + 5 years experience.
This would automatically address all those folks who deserved to be in EB2 but couldnt either becuase lawyer screwed up or issues with sponsoring company.

I changed my job twice using AC-21 informed USCIS once, I don't see any risk itz a law, as long as you are able to produce paperwork that your current job is similar to previous one you are safe, any decent employer would give you a supporting letter (oh ya exluding blood sucking desi pimps).
I find many guys calcluate too much and let go good opportunities, get real guys no one is behind you if you have job and not done anything wrong,
I really don't care when I get my GC as long as they renew my EAD ( I am on my foruth EAD)

Apparently you completely missed the point. I am asking core members to participate in discussion on these forums, not to put sensational headlines that excites people. Hope that helps.

It involves but not limited to funding drive to sustain and grow efforts, membership drive to grow in size and have impact of numbers, generating awareness and building support via media articles. Western govts. understand only one language, that is lawsuits. Everything else is taken as sucking up to them and weakness. The Indian community in UK has been successful by means of lawsuits. Although I am a big fan and supporter of IV, I think the option of taking lawsuit off the table has hurt us more than it has helped us. Why are we paying $25K for FOIA when no information has come out of it? Instead we should file a grand lawsuit? All information we are expecting from FOIA would be forced to be shared in lawsuit anyway.
I know of one such lawsuit by Mr Rajeev Khanna in 2003, although the lawsuit failed, the speed of 485 processing increased sharply soon after. We have to make bold choices as a community.
The worldwide message of Obama administration being blamed of discrimination from a president whose community was discriminated against is not something white house would be proud of.
Although I do not expect justice in american justice system, at the very least we can send a strong message across to the larger Indian community that would be watching worldwide.
The message is getting stronger in India that Obama administration is anti India for no fault of India and we can make an all out effort using media, lawsuit and everything else in our means to settle the issue once for all.

Both and spouse and I received my receipts for our I-485, I-140, EAD, AP 09/19/07. On 09/24/07 we received fingerprint notice and on 09/27/07 we received our EAD card. I am quite surprise by how fast it came. Here are my details :
Priority Date: 10/15/04
Type: EB3
I-140/I-485: Concurrently filing at NSC. Receipt date 07/07/07
Checks cashed: 09/10/07
Receipts received: 09/19/07
Fingerprint appt: 10/09/07

It already does, if you have an approved I-140 based on your LC.
For old PD, pending I-140 should not be bottleneck.
PD should be first criteria but US experience should not be ignored completely. US experience should be giving less point then PD.
10 points for each month for PD and 1 point for each month for being in US. GC priority should be created after calculating total points for PD and for being in US.

It is normal practice with all companys to do that with every change.
Even after years of slavery to them they keep doing this.
As per history they say no company won the case of Non compete agrement against employee so far in court of law.
I got my arears money from one of the India's reputed software company (after a year' s correspondance)only after I warned them that I will inform labor dept.
Ofcourse as another member suggested, it is better to keep yourself at peace and get along as long as your immigration status is not disturbed by those blood suckers.

All who are still waiting for FP, a suggestion based on my personal experience. If you are calling TSC, then it will not make any difference as you will not receive FP notice even after calling and waiting for months. I would suggest take Infopass and get the FP scheduled. For NSC, sometimes if you get nice IO they may schedule you right away and tell you the date of FP on the phone itself. This info is all based on my past experiences of reading various threads and calling TSC. So I am not sure what the trend is right now.

In the past week I compleleted the following:
1) Contrubuted to IV again
2) Emailed 10 senators
3) Also emailed two Senators from my state
4) Emailed 30+ reporters of national news channels
5) Emailed all local Chicago newspapers
6) Emailed press release to 20+ Indian newspaper operating in US to increase awareness
Will keep contributing....
